Iranian Culture and Art Club of Fresno was created as a nonprofit organization for the purpose of promoting secular understanding and promoting Iranian culture, arts and customs.

The Iranian Culture and Art Club (known as KANOON

is committed to providing Bilingual (English/Persian) lectures and performance series with dynamic artists, writers, poets and scholars to create a venue of better understanding of this rich culture to the general public of the San Joaquin Valley.

The Iranian Culture and Art Club (Kanoon) is a volunteer organization that has experienced many and varied successes in the past several years.

From 2005 each year on March 21st, First day of Spring), Iranian New Year Norooz, was recognized by the Fresno City Council and we were pleased with the participation of two members of the City Council who came to the Nooroz celebration. At that time, they spoke to the audience and presented the certificate of recognizing Norooz as the Iranian New Year.

Persian/Farsi language classes have been conducted for eighteen years and continue at Fort Washington Elementary School and Islamic Cultural Center. Approximately 500 children and adults have taken the class over the years. In the last three years, students of Persian/Farsi class of Kanoon performed more than ten historical and traditional plays in our cultural events. Kanoon made all the traditional and historical customs and props for the students.

Iranian Culture and Art Club are involved with several cultural organizations in San Joaquin Valley.

We have members at the task Force for the Tamejavi Festival that will take place in September 2009, also we the member of FCASh (Fresno Coalition for Arts, Science and History, and  we have a member at CMAC (Public Television) board.

Fresno County residents of all ages have access to Kanoon's cultural programs and Persian and ESl language classes. These programs enhance cross-cultural understanding while fostering and preserving our culture for our children. By sharing our cultural essence with these activities, we will inform, enlighten, and keep our heritage alive
